Sleeve patch for 15th Guards Shavlinskiy Motorized Rifle Regiment.
15th Guards Shavlinskiy Motorshooting Regiment has a very rich history and played some important roles in preserving the revolutionary government after the 1917. The regiment was formed in the January of 1918 from the volunteers of the Baltic Fleet sailors and was named the 2nd Petrogradskiy Marine Squadron. After Germany broke the truce and attacked the New Russia this squadron was sent to postpone German advance and did so heroically. During the WW2 this unit was among one of the most decorated units. The soldiers from Shavlinskiy fought Germans to the last bullet and many times would cover Nazi machineguns with their bare chests just so their comrades had a chance to survive. In 1990 the squadron has acquired it’s new name the 15th Guards Shavlinskiy Motorshooting Regiment.
